Image Processing, Conversion & *OCR
To compliment the image capture side of the business, Rapter offer a suite of Image Processing, Conversion & *OCR services.
Our Image Processing services provide enhancement, improved clarity and readibility of information on a digital image and can also prepare and optimise images for other processes such as *OCR for increased accuracy. We have developed excellent techniques for image sharpening, noise and artifact removal, colour removal and content extraction (see opposite for example of text extraction and enhancement from an original full colour image). Any of these processes can be applied to scanned data generated here at Rapter or we can post-process existing data that has been generated elsewhere.
Our Data Conversion services include both Media and File Format conversions. We can read and write many different forms of media including older formats that may now be obsolete e.g. floppy disk and magnetic tape. We also provide conversion services for image data e.g. JPEG, TIFF and PDF and text based data e.g. Microsoft Access, SQL and CSV files. We are able to process large amounts of data quickly, millions of images are not unusual quantities for us, contact us for more information.
Rapter also provide *OCR services which again can be applied to scanned data generated here at Rapter or we can post-process existing data that has been generated elsewhere. *OCR is the technology behind extracting text and diagrams from image files to a format that makes it far easier to manipulate and change e.g. Microsoft Word or Rich Text Format. We use the latest hardware and software available to process large numbers of files, quickly. *OCR also has the added benefit of making the extracted data searchable so specific information can be located quickly and easily.
