Book Scanning
Books come in all manner of shapes, sizes and conditions. Ranging from something as personal as a diary to something as valueable as an ancient manuscript. They can contain printed text, handwritten script, type and pictures.
Rapter offer book scanning services which can convert the content into a digital form, black & white or colour at a range of resolutions (DPI) output to any of the industry standard file formats e.g. TIFF, PDF & JPEG.
The scanner takes a snapshot of each page from above using high resolution cameras whilst the book is kept flat and protected between glass plates in a specially designed cradle (shown in the picture to the left). There are no moving parts or feeding mechanisms involved so the book is never at any risk of damage.
The final images are processed for crop, page straightening, page curvature and centre warp correction which is where the information runs down in the centre bind (shown in the picture to the left). We can also process the images using *OCR to provide a fully searchable digital version of the original book.
We offer a range of data delivery options which include the Web, CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, USB External Devices & Tape. A worldwide courier service is also available.
